This roundtrip excursion, departing our Utica Station, is guaranteed to reawaken all of your senses. Relax and soak up the winter sights while aboard vintage train coaches. From the comfort of the train, you’ll revel in stunning views of the beautiful winter scenery outside your window.
Spend a full afternoon in Old Forge enjoying “Christmas on Main Street,” browsing through shops, decorated for the season, enjoying carriage rides, listening to the melodious carillon bells. (Transportation is provided to and from Thendara Station)
Return to Utica after the Christmas Tree Lighting. While you’re on the train, visit our Cafè Car and try the light and hearty fare as you ride the rails on the Adirondack Railroad!

Restrooms on the train are not wheelchair accessible, however there are wheelchair accessible restrooms in all of our stations.
The shuttle to and from Thendara Station is NOT cannot accommodate wheel chairs.

Where is Thendara?
Thendara, NY is a small town located a mile south of Old Forge, NY. Thendara Station is 52 miles north of Utica, NY and is the station that serves the Old Forge area.
Does this train go all the way into Old Forge?
This train goes to our Thendara Station and not all the way into Old Forge. The Adirondack Railroad provides a shuttle bus service that is complementary and takes you the rest of the way into downtown Old Forge and to other local attractions. The shuttle bus service is available for the full duration of your layover.
Will the train be hot/cold?
The train is climate controlled for you comfort.
It’s a long train ride. Is there food available in case we get hungry?
The café car will be open on the train for food and beverages as you travel to the Thendara Station. Passengers are welcome to bring a small cooler with food and beverages for the day but are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages on the train. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase, with valid form of ID, in the Café car during the trip and may not be taken off the train.
I smoke, is there a dedicated place for me to have a cigarette?
Smoking is prohibited in every car and vestibule on the train. However, smoking is allowed outside on the platform before you depart. Please remember to deposit your cigarette butts responsibly.
I can’t make my original departure date; can I switch to a different date?
